In September 1997, the eyes of the world turned to Northampton as Diana, Princess of Wales was brought to her ancestral home at Althorp just outside Northampton for burial.

This great honour was part of the celebrations marking the 800th Anniversary of Northampton being granted its Borough Charter and recognised the unique role played by the Spencer Family in the town.
