Cllr Suresh Patel

Suresh Patel is Borough Councillor for Old Duston and County Councillor for Duston East.

"You cannot escape the responsibility of tomorrow by evading it today" Abraham Lincoln. This quote encapsulates my approach to responsibility. I believe strongly that the interests of local people are best served at a local level and will do my upmost to ensure that this is at the heart of what I am if elected as your County Councillor. I have strong skills in making things happen and influencing direction, and will use these to make sure that policies and procedures developed and followed will serve to make a vibrant, successful future for our local people. We are all facing huge economic, social and political challenges in the foreseeable future. However, I believe that there are opportunities within this environment to bring about much needed change which will improve the lives of our local community. I will work for low taxes but improved public services through partnership working and better use of resources. As a local businessman for over 25 years, I am too aware of the impact of the recession on the business community and the social consequences of this. Difficulties, triggered through finance, may result in tensions on the family unit. As a family man with two sons and a granddaughter, I am 100% committed to family values and will do everything in my power to reduce the impact of the recession on family life. The Council is committed to providing a better service for our young people and the elderly. I have worked with many community/third sector organisations and throughout I have been very active in promoting the interests of young people and the elderly. I shall bring this experience and commitment to my role as your councillor. My time is spent working with and for the local community. As your local councillor I will see that this will increase and I am looking forward to that. The little time I am left with will be spent with my family."
