Rupert Matthews MEP

Rupert Matthews became MEP for the East Midlands in July 2017 following many years of campaigning on behalf of local people across the East Midlands.

Prior to his election, Rupert worked in publishing and has extensive political links across the East Midlands. He stood as a European Candidate for the East Midlands in 2009 and knows the region well together with the members and activists at all levels within the Party. He has written several books about the region, including The Battle of Lincoln and Food and Drink of Leicestershire.

Rupert's campaigning across the East Midlands Region has made a real difference for the Conservative Party. He has recently launched the ‘Team East Midlands’ initiative which is a grassroots campaigning organisation working with local associations to boost the fortunes of the Party across the East Midlands.
