General Elections are held every five years to elect Members of Parliament to represent us in the House of Commons.
 
The last General Election was held on 8th June 2017. The results for the three constituencies in Northampton were:
 
Northampton North
Conservative          19,065 votes (47.2%)
Labour                      18,258 votes (45.2%)
UKIP                             1,404 votes (3.5%)
Liberal Democrat          1,015 votes (2.5%)
 
Michael Ellis was elected as the MP for Northampton North

Northampton South
Conservative        19,231 votes (46.9%)
Labour                   18,072 votes (44.0%)
UKIP                      1,630 votes (4.0%)
Liberal Democrat   1,405 votes (3.4%)
 
Andrew Lewer was elected as the MP for Northampton South
 
South Northamptonshire
Conservative          40,599 votes (62.5%)
Labour                     17,759 votes (27.3%)
Liberal Democrat     3,623 votes (5.6%)
UKIP                        1,363 votes (2.1%)
 
Andrea Leadsom was elected as the MP for South Northamptonshire

 

The previous General Election was held on 7th May 2015. 
 
Northampton North
Conservative          16,699 votes (42.4%)
Labour                      13,454 votes (34.1%)
UKIP                           6,354 votes (16.1%)
Green                           1,503 votes (3.8%)
 
Michael Ellis was elected as the MP for Northampton North

Northampton South
Conservative        16,163 votes (41.6%)
Labour                    12,370 votes (31.8%)
UKIP                         7,114 votes (18.3%)
Liberal Democrat        1,673 votes (4.3%)
 
David Mackintosh was elected as the MP for Northampton South
 
South Northamptonshire
Conservative          36,607 votes (60.1%)
Labour                      10,191 votes (16.7%)
UKIP                           8,204 votes (13.5%)
Liberal Democrat          3,613 votes (5.9%)
 
Andrea Leadsom was elected as the MP for South Northamptonshire
